Welcome!
Hello, I'm Melissa Bronaugh, and I'm so glad you're here.
I'm a retired registered nurse, healthcare advocate, and lifestyle mentor with nearly 30 years of experience helping people achieve better health. Throughout my career, I had the privilege of caring for patients in emergency rooms, intensive care units, family practice, and community healthcare. No matter where I worked, one thing remained constant—my passion for helping people live healthier, longer, and more fulfilling lives.
My nursing journey began in Canada before taking me to Oklahoma and Dallas, Texas, where I specialized in Emergency, Trauma, and Intensive Care nursing. Along the way, I had the opportunity to serve in leadership, education, and clinical roles that allowed me to mentor nurses, develop emergency and critical care programs, and coordinate a 16-week Emergency Nursing Internship for 11 hospitals. I also became an instructor for ACLS, PALS, and ENPC while earning my Emergency Nursing Certification (ENC). Teaching and mentoring have always been among the most rewarding parts of my career.
When my family returned to Prince Edward Island, I joined my husband, Dr. Thomas Bronaugh, in family practice. It was there that I discovered what truly inspired me—preventive healthcare.
Working alongside patients over several years allowed me to witness the incredible impact that education and lifestyle changes can have. I saw people lower their A1C, improve blood pressure and cholesterol, build stronger bodies, gain confidence, and take control of their health. Watching these transformations reinforced my belief that prevention is one of the most powerful forms of medicine.
In 2020, our family made the decision to homeschool our three children. While it was a completely new adventure, it has become one of the most meaningful and rewarding experiences of my life. It reminded me that growth happens when we're willing to embrace change, continue learning, and invest wholeheartedly in what matters most.
Outside of healthcare, you'll usually find me enjoying life on our hobby farm with our horses, chickens, dogs, and cats. I also love gardening, cooking, reading, golfing, yoga, and cycling. Living a healthy lifestyle isn't just something I encourage—it's something I genuinely enjoy every day.
My love for community, education, and preventive healthcare inspired me to create Alive and Well. My vision is to provide a welcoming space where people feel supported, encouraged, and empowered to make lasting changes that improve both their health and quality of life.
As a retired registered nurse, my role is to educate, encourage, and support individuals by providing evidence-based information, practical tools, and ongoing guidance as they work toward their personal health and wellness goals. Alive and Well complements—not replaces—the medical care provided by your physician or healthcare team.
My husband, Dr. Thomas Bronaugh, has always been my greatest supporter and will provide operational oversight for the office in a hands-off capacity. Together, we share a vision of helping our community thrive through prevention, education, and healthier living.
Whether you're looking to improve your health, reduce your risk of chronic disease, or simply feel your very best, I would be honoured to walk alongside you on your wellness journey.
Your health matters. Your goals matter. And your success truly is my success.
I look forward to welcoming both familiar faces and new clients to Alive and Well.
